CXC math pass rates
What do you think about the fact that many people pass the math paper 1 and most people fail the math paper 2?
If you look at the math exam guide, you will see that based on the way the marks for the exam are distributed, if you fail the CXC math paper 2, you basically fail the whole exam.
So even if you can do the multiple choice exams very well, you can still get messed up with the paper 2.
I do well on EVERY math paper I sit and they give me a grade 3? Now I have to resit
Hi, I'm Ker from ja and I felt I did well(somewhat)because I did well on the paper 1 however eventhough I answered all questions in the paper2,I left out one or two ques in a section.
I'm just hoping for the best now....toodles
Well, all I can suggest is that you take a look at the marking scheme for the math exam. It tells you how much marks each section of the math exam is worth so that you can get an idea of how many marks you lost by not answering the two questions.
Hope that helps you figure it out.
Guys when i look at the exam paper if you master section you are looking at about 80 marks and then do what u can in section 2( not saying that you should now do only section one), persons marking the paper not just look at answers they also look at your working out so even if your answer wrong you can still get a mark for reasoning, another thing my maths teacher told me is that if i understand a maths question and i can't set it out I can make a statement i tried it and i get a 93% in my test....
This website is very awesome. I have had the experience. It has information and CXC Style questions that would blow your socks off. But first you have to join to access it. If you other required information who to join, please reply to this message. I would be more than glad to assist you.
my name is gershon samuels and i live in guyana. i have wrote the cxc maths 2008 and i know that i did real bad in the paper 2 since i answered only 7 questions, but i am confident that i will get a grade 3 or 4 i don't mind having them. however in the paper 1 i nailed it. i made shue that every question i answered was correct and beleive u me they r. so is it possible for men to have grade 3 or 4?
i did very well in multiple choice and paper 2 sec 1 but only did one question in sec 2. can i still get a grade 1?
Andre, i must admit we are rocking on the same boat i did well in paper 1 and paper 2 section 1 but did i question in section 2 but i dont think i got the 1. I had 10 minutes to do the bearings question that was the last question but i couldn't complete it because i panicked when the invigilator told me i have 10 mins and i sat there looking at the question but just couldn't answer it only because i panicked and got nervous i know how to do the question but i could answer it so i had to sit and look at it while the 10 mins ran out also my hands were very shaky which made it worse. i think i got 57 out of 60 on multiple choice though so i think i might narrowly get the 1 based on CXC calculations and also i possibly got 98 out of 120 on paper 2. well its up to CXC now
Hi Andre,
If you didn't complete one question in section 2 of paper 2 of the math exam, according to our marking scheme, you have lost approximately 8% of the total exam marks. That means that the maximum amount that you can get on the exam is 92%. Now, if you get the full marks (or almost the full marks) on all the questions you answered on Paper 1 and section 1 of the paper 2 exam, maybe, maybe, you might have a chance.
i beleive that most people are scared of maths and that is why they fail paper 2 and they pass the multiple coice because even if you dont know the answer you ahve the option of just circling so just cirling any answer might be the right answer so this is why they wil pass the paper 1 but paper 2 is valued 60% so if you fail paper 2 you fail the exam
True dat. The paper to work on is paper 2
