Maths

1/2(x-2)-1/3(x-3)=5
.5(x-2)-.33(x-3)=5
.5x-1-.33x-.99=5
.5x-.33x=5+1+.99
0.165x=5.99
x=42.36

Replace "X" with my answer which is "42.36"
1/2(42.36-2)-1/3(42.36-3)=5
=21.18-1-14.12-.99
=5.07

I am working for a one in maths, when i work maths prob my brain gets really excited.....lol

Re: Re: CXC math past paper type exam questions: Number theory

1/2 (x-2) - 1/3 (x-3) = 5
multiply both sides by 6 (LCM)
3(x-2)-2(x-3) = 30
3x - 6 -2x + 6 = 30
3x - 2x -6 + 6 = 30
x = 30

Re: maths sucks

Hello stacy-aleema,
While I understand how you feel about math, maybe there are other websites where you can find other people who also wish to vent like you about it.

The vast majority of members of this community come here because they are trying to pass their CXC subjects and want to be helpful and positive about it. If you wish to offer help to any of our members or wish to ask for help with some specific aspect of the math syllabus, please feel free to do so. If however, you wish to vent negative emotions you have about the subject, this site might be a better place to do so.

Good luck with your math exams and I do hope that you begin to have a better relationship with the subject.

If you feel this way

You need to find a teacher who can help you cope with the subject. Coming here and wailing how you hate it does not help you and discourages people who are trying to do it on their own. Please have some consideration.
